Analysis of Upcoming Elections in FRY
Bill Clinton will leave the White House in January 2001 and until then US foreign policy will not change, it will stay the same, it will head into wrong direction, it will only help communist bloc and leaders of various outlaw states around the world to continue to spread terror and death around the globe. His recent support for National Socialist leader of DSS, Vojislav Kostunica goes against simple logic and I can't believe that after all that was going on in FRY and the rest of former Yugoslavia during his presidency will end up with victory of National Socialism, movement created by Adolf Hitler and further developed by Slobodan Milosevic.
After Milosevic changed constitution to allow him to continue his presidency (dictatorship), federal and local elections were quickly moved from November to September, attempt to undermine upcoming Kosovo elections and further derail peace process in that troubled province.
Constitutuion of FRY has been changed in that way to allow two terms of four years instead of one five year term of presidency. Although many incorrectly reported that this will allow Milosevic 8 more years in office, it actually means just one four year term extra. He already served one five year term and since changes do not mention 3 but two terms he can only run for presidency one more time.
Djukanovic, President of Montenegro, immediately declared boycott which was the only right thing to do. Participating in elections after illegal constitutional changes would only legitimize Milosevic's Stalinist-Hitlerist rule. There is absolutely no way to guarantee fairness of elections or to observe them properly. We all know results, we all remember republic elections in 1997 when Vuk Draskovic decided to participate and although polls indicated his victory he won only half a million votes while Seselj and Milutinovic were far ahead with millions of votes. Zoran Djindjic, leader of DS refused to participate in those elections because of unfairness of election rules and lack of observers from OSCE.
It is very important to mention here irregularities during and before elections:
1. Election laws are heavily modified to fit Milosevic and his party SPS.
2. Voters are intimidated by the ruling party. Threats, insults, beatings, illegal arrests, assassinations, arsons, burglaries etc.
3. State media has absolute monopoly in Serbia and it is under direct control of Milosevic and his party SPS. Opposition parties are sometimes not even mentioned to exist, major anti-government protests are ignored, opposition is always to be blamed for everything including earthquakes, floods and forest fires.
4. Ballot boxes are being replaced with fake ones, additional votes are put into them by SPS supporters, members of election committee are usually SPS members or they work for secret police, final results and lists are being replaced with fake ones etc. How can you participate in elections if voters give you 5000 votes, your opponent gets 2000 and then election committee announces 4000 votes for your opponent and 3000 votes for you. There is not even a theoretical possibility for someone to beat Milosevic and SPS.
Although election rules are now even worse, Djindjic and his new coalition DOS (Democratic Opposition of Serbia) decided to participate while Draskovic refused claiming unfairness of elections. This is very intriguing because Djindjic and Draskovic always do the opposite and never run together as in 1996 when they have won local elections. It makes us think that Milosevic himself ordered them to split to prevent further defeat. It worked perfectly in 1997 when SPS candidate won easily and Slobo-Mira coalition won alone 110 seats not to mention their partner Seselj and his SRS who won aditional 80 seats totaling 190 of 250 seats in Serbian parliament. There is absolutely no logical reasons why would Djindjic and Draskovic run against each other and why would they legitimize Milosevic's rule unless they are working for him.
After visit to Italy and meetings with Italian communists, Madeleine Albright urged Djukanovic not to boycott elections, to accept Milosevic and his illegaly changed constitution and fully legitimize Milosevic's dictatorship and reign of terror. Should I remind that Mr. Lamberto Dini tried to convince coalition "Together" in 1997 to give up their victory. Several months after, Mr. Dini was a middle man in the sellout of Serbian Postal Service. It makes you wonder how much money he got for that.
Djukanovic refused and then Clinton's administration shifted to Vojislav Kostunica, National Socialist by no means better than Milosevic and very close to Hitlerism and fascism. You can hear silly reports about some imaginary polls where Kostunica is way ahead of Milosevic. They never mention that his party DSS doesn't have enough members to even put him as a presidential candidate (25,000 signatures). His party never did anything, he was a member of Serbian parliament from 1990 to 1997 and he always voted yes for ethnic cleansing, union of all Serbs, support for criminals like Mladic and Karadzic which are his heroes and role models.
The worst part comes with presidential candidate of Djindjic's DOS. He was announcing for days that DOS will find candidate who is going to win elections making people wonder who that person will be. Finally, Djindjic decided to select his former buddy from original DS (Democratic Party), Vojislav Kostunica who BTW with Djindjic caused split of DS in three. One part was with former president Micunovic, one part with Kostunica in newly formed DSS and the core of DS remained around Djindjic. Kostunica had little success with his new party DSS, most of members left after elections in 1996 leaving Kostunica and his occasional statements alone and isolated from political scene in Serbia. DSS is National Socialist party, similar to Adolf Hitler's Nazi party in 1933 and it is based on empty promises of socialism and strong nationalism that justifies all means necessary to achieve goals.
Those who know Serbian language should visit DSS web site at http://www.dss.org.yu and see for yourselves. I will point out and comment only the most important things.
1. Mr. Kostunica doesn't recognize AVNOJ and constitution of former SFRY similar to Seselj and Milosevic. What does this mean? This means that they do not recognize republic borders or right of republics for self-determination. This was the main cause for violent breakout of Yugoslavia in 1991.
2. Mr. Kostunica doesn't recognize Albanian minority (his words) in Kosovo and their demands for autonomy. What would Kostunica then did with Kosovo after his victory? Move MUP and continue repression?
3. Mr. Kostunica would like to put new subject into Serbian schools called nationalism and to generally make education of children nationalistic similar to Hitler's Jugend in Nazi Germany during 30s.
4. Mr. Kostunica likes to promise free healthcare, free education and similar socialist nonsense. Too bad he never explains where he will find money for that.
5. Mr. Kostunica is anti-NATO, anti-West oriented but he would like lots of money from the US and Western Europe. Similar hypocrite as Milosevic and Seselj. Question here is why would West sponsored someone who dislikes them and work agasinst them?
6. Mr. Kostunica is for ethnic unity for all Serbs who should live in one state, similar Milosevic's and Seselj's ideas that produced ethnic cleansing in Bosnia and Kosovo.
All of this makes us wonder why would Clinton support this man? What positive changes we can expect if Kostunica wins? His victory would be similar to Hitler's victory in 1933. It seems that Clinton likes socialism and free healthcare for all factor, the same factor that he was never able to push in US.
All other candidates don't deserve even to be mentioned. Vice president of SRS Tomislav Nikolic is former grave digger, Nazi as Kostunica and Seselj. Vojislav Mihajlovic is from Draskovic's SPO, grandson of chetnik leader Dragoljub Mihajlovic who collaborated with Hitler and Nazis during WWII. Like grandfater like grandson. All we have are Balkan Hitler, war criminal and genocidal maniac, Slobodan Milosevic, Nazi Kostunica, member of Seselj's Nazi party SRS Tomislav Nikolic and grandson of Nazi collaborator, Vojsilav Mihajlovic. I think that is obvious why these elections should be boycotted.
One more important reason is that FRY (Fascist Republic of Yugoslavia) is internationally unrecognized and soon to be expelled from UN.
Another important reason is Kosovo. If Milosevic and other Nazis continue to rule Serbia and FRY in less than two years Kosovo will become independent. I don't think that Serbs can afford that, not only because of national pride but because of economic importance and resources located there, not to mention numerous Serbian monasteries and other cultural treasures. Furthermore, independence of Kosovo would trigger secession of Vojvodina as well and that would be the end of Serbia.
That is the reason we have started our campaign here "Boycott 2000" to prevent further collapse of Serbia and the most important thing of all, to give legitimacy to Milosevic's Stalinist-Hitlerist government. Our goal is less than 30% turnout and total debacle of Milosevic. He will win for sure but let his victory be bitter. Without OSCE observers, with continuos state Nazi media propaganda, with disorganized opposition and election rules suited to Milosevic there is no way that something can be done through elections.
Stay home and don't vote, silent protest is sometimes the best weapon against Nazis and their terror. There is no reason to give support to Milosevic or any other Nazi leader in Serbia. Serbs do not want collective guilt and the best way to avoid it is to say NO to elections. We all know who are those responsible and there is no reason to defend them and take the blame for them. Say NO to fascism, terror and dictatorship!
